One of the departments with the greatest contrasts in Colombia is Tolima. This tourist destination is a natural paradise that offers something special and unique for every traveler, whether impressive mountains, imposing rivers and waterfalls, one of Colombia's largest reservoirs for water activities or captivating stories reflected in the colorful alleys of its towns. Come to Tolima and discover why this is a Natural Paradise!

Honda: Its historic center contains the glory of the time when it was the colony's commercial hub, since it was the mandatory river point that connected Santa Fe with the ports of Barranquilla and Cartagena. Its colonial houses and streets lead you to imagine how this prosperous place was in past times, having been a reference in the country's history and economy. One example of the vigor of this area is the Puente Navarro. It was the first of its kind in South America. The structure was acquired from the San Francisco Bridge Company, the same company that built the famous Golden Gate in San Francisco in the United States. Therefore, it has been declared a heritage town of Colombia.

The House of the Botanical Expedition is now a museum that collects the life and work of José Celestino Mutis and where you can learn about various plants that were the subject of research. A few meters away is the Church of the Miraculous Lord of the Hermitage, which has a classic Iberian bell tower. Inside an important relic of its faith is kept, the Señor de los Milagros, believed to have provided protection to travelers during the colonial period. What to see in Mariquita? Falán: The remote geography of Falán makes it a very interesting place for observing amphibians and reptiles. There José Celestino Mutis explored the Gold and Silver Mines. The tunnels of the Reales Minas de Santa Ana, surrounded by vegetation, tell the story of what colonial mining was like in the 19th century and the advances Mutis introduced in this field.

Today at the Armero Visitor Center you can take a tour that covers the geology, history and the faces of the people who lived in this fruitful city, called the "White City".
